Quinn, Who Started it All
Quinn made me fall in love with crested geckos. I asked the store clerk to see her, then she walked across my hands, jumped on to my shoulder, and beamed one of those famous crestie smiles at me. There was no resisting. I spent the next day reading up on crested geckos on the internet and getting whatever she would need before bringing her home. She still has more than her fair share of charm.
Quinn will sit up at her water dish like a little person at a table. That's her there on the right on the home page. She will lean forward from her rock to try to catch drops on her tongue when she's misted, or else just duck her head inside until it's over. She's the silliest gecko here, and will daintily step on to my hand for a bit of attention.

Shedding, Quinn style. How do you like her rhinoceros horn?
On July 4th, I was changing the substrate in Quinn's cage and she began shaking her tail slowly. I backed off from her cage, then later went back to changing it. She repeated the tail shaking. I wanted to leave to go see the fireworks, so I put her into a kritter keeper while I finished the job. When I went to put her back in, she shook her tail right off!
Crested geckos will detach their tails when they're frightened, but Quinn had been my pet for over a year, and I have never given her any reason to be afraid of me. When a crested gecko drops its tail, they do not re-grow them like some species. Taillessness is the norm in the wild.
